TPPCF Kansas Senate Survey: Wolf Threatens Roberts

July 17, 2014

ATLANTA, Ga. – Dr. Milton Wolf threatens incumbent U.S. Senator Pat Roberts’ hold on his seat in the Senate, according to the results of a survey released today by Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund (TPPCF) – Roberts leads Wolf by just 42-30 percent.

Among those survey respondents who had enough information about the two candidates to have formed opinions about both of them, the ballot reversed – among this subset of respondents, Wolf actually leads Roberts by a substantial 48-32 percent margin.

Among voters who know that Roberts has lived in the Washington, DC, area for 47 years, Roberts maintains his lead at 40-34 percent. But among those who know that Roberts accepts a special exemption from ObamaCare for himself and his staff, however, the numbers reverse – among that subset of respondents, Wolf leads Roberts by 45-28 percent.

“Any 34-year incumbent who’s polling at just 42 percent on the ballot is in trouble, and everyone knows it,” said George Birnbaum of GEB International, which fielded the survey for TPPCF. “For anyone who doubts Milton Wolf seriously threatens Senator Roberts, all you have to do is look at the ballot test among the subset of respondents who have formed an opinion of both candidates – Wolf moves from trailing by 12 points to leading by 16, representing a 28-point swing.”

“Milton Wolf is poised to overtake and defeat Pat Roberts,” said TPPCF Chairman Jenny Beth Martin. “When voters learn that they have a real choice in this race – and, especially, when they learn that Pat Roberts accepts an unlawful special exemption from ObamaCare for himself and his staff – they abandon him and flock to Milton Wolf. TPPCF is going to spend the next three weeks doing what we can to ensure that GOP primary voters in Kansas know those two things.”

GEB International conducted the survey of 500 likely GOP primary voters on July 9. The survey has a margin of error of +/- 4.28 percent.
