Endorsing a candidate for President is a serious thing, and, done properly, should be the result of extensive research and reflection. Making an endorsement on behalf of a large national organization that represents millions of supporters is an even more sensitive endeavor. Consequently, Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund, as a result of extensive polling and discussions with our Coordinators and supporters across the nation, enthusiastically endorses Senator Ted Cruz for President of the United States.
Why we endorsed Ted Cruz for President
Jenny Beth Martin for Ted Cruz
Why did we endorse Sen. Cruz? First and foremost, Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund receives its direction on endorsements from our grassroots members. Our Coordinators and general supporters vote, attend webinars and conference calls to discuss and debate, and email and call us to make sure we know where they stand. We only move forward on an endorsement when we are certain our grassroots have made their voices heard.
Our “grassroots-first” policy makes us unique, and that is why our endorsement of Sen. Cruz is so important. This endorsement does not reflect the wishes of one person, or even a few people who work at a conservative organization; rather, it represents the decisions and votes of tens of thousands of conservative Americans across the nation. We polled and polled, and debated and discussed, and our supporters – the conservative grassroots in America – told us that they want Senator Ted Cruz as the next President of the United States.
Honestly, it’s easy to understand why the conservative grassroots support Sen. Cruz for President. When Ted Cruz won his election to the U.S. Senate in 2012, he made waves right away. He rejected the usual role of quiet, subservient Freshman Senator, and he refused to play the Permanent Political Class’ favorite game, follow the leader. Sen. Cruz’ priorities did not include cocktail parties and acceptance into “The Club.” When he campaigned, he promised to shake things up, to restore our freedoms, and that he would never go along to get along – and he kept his promises.
The Permanent Political Class hates him for that. And we love him for it.
They fear that, if elected, he will keep his new promises, much as he has kept his previous promises, and that he will:
- Advocate for term limits
- Repeal Obamacare
- End Congress’ unfair exemption from Obamacare
- Remove the federal government’s involvement in education, i.e. Common Core
- Abolish the IRS and introduce a fairer, flatter tax system
- Implement the biometric Entry/Exit Visa system and real border security, as well as restore the rule of law, and repeal President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty
- Rescind every illegal and unconstitutional executive action instituted by President Obama
- Tear up the catastrophic Iranian nuclear deal
- Abolish 4 unnecessary cabinet agencies in addition to the IRS
- Eliminate 25 Federal “ABC’s,” i.e. agencies, bureaus, commissions and other programs
- Reinstitute President Reagan’s Panel on Cost Control to identify and cut waste and inefficiency
- Amend the Constitution to require a balanced federal budget
- Enact the REINS Act – legislation that would require an up-or-down vote by Congress on any executive branch rule or regulation with an annual economic impact of $100 million or more
- Implement a federal hiring freeze and reform automatic worker raises
- Audit the Federal Reserve
See, Sen. Cruz’ reforms will greatly reduce the opportunity for corruption and cronyism, both of which cause politicians to betray conservative principles and vote for higher spending and more government. The Permanent Political Class bemoans the label of “establishment,” and the accusation that they are part of the problem… and yet they consistently vote away our freedoms, our money, and our sovereignty. Sen. Cruz isn’t afraid to call it like it is – or point out which of his Senate colleagues are part of the problem, and why they deserve the establishment label.
After seven years of President Obama, our nation is in a Constitutional crisis. The executive branch has seized and amassed power and authority it was never meant to have, while leaders in Congress failed to defend their authority against the President’s theft. Spending and debt continue to increase because the Permanent Political Class refuses to exercise the power of the purse. They don’t want the gravy train to end. Ted Cruz strolled into the Senate determined to put an end to the status quo, and that is why we read sneering comments from establishment Republicans. They admit they don’t like Sen. Cruz because he doesn’t play their games.
This is what the conservative grassroots – and Americans of all stripes – admire about Ted Cruz.
When Sen. Ted Cruz wins the Republican nomination, he will prove that it is not necessary to sell your soul when you get to Washington, D.C. He will serve as an example to other conservatives that when you stand your ground, when you never waver, when you go into the belly of the beast and come out with your principles intact, you can win. This too, is what the Permanent Political Class fears – that more people like Ted Cruz will win elections and return power to the American people.
Our Coordinators and supporters recognize that our already imperiled freedoms require a strong, proven, true Constitutional conservative to aggressively defend and restore our liberties, our opportunities, and the American Dream. The conservative grassroots, after four rounds of voting and many discussions and tens of thousands of votes cast, emphatically endorse Senator Ted Cruz as the Constitutional conservative who will fight for our rights, our pocketbooks, our sovereignty, our national security, and our Constitution, as the next President of the United States.
